Blue Dragon are SME Laundry of the Year at the 2021 LADAs

Blue Dragon Scoops SME Laundry of the Year at the LADA Awards 2021
Now in its 7th year, the LADA Awards are a celebration for the laundry and drycleaning industry. This year was a very welcome return to a face to face awards evening and everyone was clearly excited to be meeting up again in real life!
The LADA Awards aim to recognise companies, individuals, services and products that stand out from the crowd, those bringing a new level of customer service and professionalism to the industry and helping it face the challenges of changing society and technology head-on.
Blue Dragon was shortlisted in both the Drycleaning and SME Laundry categories and William Orford was thrilled to collect the SME Laundry of the Year Award.
Some of the points the judges considered to have particular merit were:
A Team Effort during the Pandemic. As a family-run business the service is personal and hands on. During the pandemic MD William Orford also became a regular delivery driver. Some staff were furloughed, but most worked through to provide the clean linen so vital in keeping hospital theatres and wards sterile environments. Also the hotel linen for accommodating key workers through the worst of the crisis.
Washable Gowns for the NHS. At the forefront of a washable & recyclable gown service for the NHS to alleviate the pressure of continuously sourcing disposable PPE and the impact that has on the environment.
BSEN 14065 Accreditation Audit & Full Accreditation
This is the internationally recognised standard for certifying Biocontamination control systems for the laundry processing of textiles. This certification is for the FULL accreditation for supply of linens to Healthcare & the NHS. Work to attain and retain this acclaimed status really is a team effort amd enables us to continue to supply hospitals with the clean linen they require to keep wards and operation theatres sterile and safe environments.
Blue Dragon to the rescue
Although William Orford considers this to be ‘normal business practice’, but the laundry did step in at very short notice when the laundry supplier for Hillingdon Hospital were unable to provide a laundry service for the unprecedented demand for scrubs for their A&E theatres and Covid wards. Blue Dragon’s ISO BSEN 14065 accreditation allowed them to take over immediately without any interruption to the service and they continue to work with this local hospital.
